November 2nd, 2019 — Shabbat Noah
An epiphany from the funeral of my teacher, who lived with chronic illness and great pain: All of his love, joy, pride, all of his dedication to his family, students, friends and community… it was all a choice. Do we not also, then, have a choice? The decision to lead with courage, compassion and conscience does not manifest only on the battlefield, when fighting authoritarianism, when living at edge of the sword. That choice is with us every single day.
