A Blessed Wasteland – Rabbi Keilah Lebell

While our people were slaves in the luxuriant land of Egypt, God took them out to live freely in a wasteland, reliant on an erratic rainy season. Parshat Eikev and our rabbis teach us that the landscape of Israel, and the way our people related to it, was meant to grow and shape our souls, to cultivate a community of sensitive, grateful, and humble people who live to serve God and humanity.
