Rabbi Barbara Zacky

R’ Zacky began attending services at IKAR while in rabbinic school at the Academy for Jewish Religion, CA and was ordained in 2009 with an emphasis in chaplaincy. She’s currently on the board at AJRCA, a trans-denominational pluralistic institution dedicated to the training of rabbis, cantors, chaplains, and other Jewish communal leaders. She also services on the Founders Council at the Williams Institute, a think tank at UCLA dedicated to conducting rigorous independent research on sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy.

As an out Jewish lesbian since 1969, R’ Zacky finds that her rabbinate, MBA, and service as a rabbi/chaplain – and her work as a board member – serve all parts of herself and the communities in which she lives.
