Feeding Our Neighbors

Our tradition teaches that the restoration of dignity must stand as the foundation of all efforts to address poverty, hunger and homelessness.

For several years we have partnered with People Assisting the Homeless to serve meals, teach reading, conduct exercise classes, and build relationships with people living in homeless shelters across Los Angeles.

Join us in working to restore dignity and hope, as we help alleviate hunger, illiteracy, isolation and homelessness in our city.

Tutors needed (email PATHtutors@ikar-la.org to sign up unless otherwise noted):

  • Math tutor needed for adult student starting this month. Flexible timing.
  • Teenage volunteers needed for our 2nd annual PATH summer camp. One day a week for five weeks during the summer, we bring together teens and adults to run a camp-like program for kids staying in the PATH shelter.
  • As always, we are looking for new tutors. We have adults and kids (ages 3 to 16) who are interested in being tutored. Tutors work directly with adults to find times that are mutually convenient. Kids tutoring is on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30.
  • Hebrew Tutor Needed: For a twelve year old Jewish boy living at PATH, looking for basic Hebrew reading skills. If you are interested, contact rabbiadam@ikar-la.org.
