 HHD 5771 Children's Program

What’s it like?
Modeled after our innovative Limudim program, our goal during High Holy Days is to provide engaging, interactive and age-appropriate programming that will stimulate and challenge our children, encourage their questions and help them connect with each other and Judaism in a meaningful way.

We will have programming for children ages two and older during all times when services are being held. We will also have three interactive and engaging family services on the first morning of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, and two services on the second morning of Rosh Hashanah. Mini Minyan is for families with children ages 2-5, Minyan Katan is for families with children ages in grades 1-3 and Minyan Gadol is for families with children in grades 4-7. We will also have Parent and Me classes on the first morning of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur for families with children ages 0-2.

When are services?

Who should come to children’s programming? Are parents welcome?
Parents are always welcome to be with their children during children’s programming. We encourage you to walk your child to their classroom and stay with them until they are comfortable. Children cannot roam in and out of children's programming freely (due to safety and security reasons), but parents are welcome to come and check on their children and participate in the children's program. Please note that in the case of need/emergency, parents will be found immediately. Parents are encouraged to attend the family service.

How much does it cost?
Children's Program IKARds are $15/evening service, $20/daytime service and $85 for all days for members and $20/evening service, $25/daytime service and $115 for all days for non-members. IKARds include snacks for all days, as well as a light lunch on both days of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur. You can purchase IKARds here.

What are some sample activities?
Children Under 2 Years
For children under two years, we will have a parent and child break room full of toys and snacks. Please note that children must be supervised at all times. We will also have two Parent and Me sessions (one during Rosh Hashanah and one during Yom Kippur) from 11-11:45am!

Children Ages 2 - Grade Seven
Children ages 2 - grade seven will have a camp-like day full of activities including yoga, drumming, learning focused on the themes of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, chag-friendly arts and crafts, drama and free play. Children will be separated by age and each group will have classroom teachers, as well as specialists rotating in and out of the classrooms.

What’s going on for teens?
Teens will have two sessions, one each morning during services, from 12:30-1:30 on the first morning of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Teens will do some learning on the themes of Rosh Hashanah, as well as learn about our exciting programs for teens in the coming year. At other times, teens are welcome to be part of the adult service or to help out in children’s programming.
